Classic Road Harbour Lap

Classic Road Harbour Lap

This scenic road bike ride starts at Rockets and Rascals, our café and bike shop in Lilliput, Poole. It's the perfect spot to start an unforgettable cycling adventure in Dorset. The route takes you through Poole, then to Upton and Lytchett Minster. It then ventures onto the iconic Isle of Purbeck.

As you ride through the historic walled town of Wareham, enjoy the quayside. Then, cross the River Frome. From here, the ride starts to climb. It tackles the Alpe d'Huez, a climb characterised by its zig-zag road and tight switchback hairpin bends. It will test your endurance and reward you with views of the countryside.

After the climb, the route leads to peaceful country lanes and scenic back roads. They take you to the majestic sight of Corfe Castle. This historic ruin, perched up high, contrasts with the rolling Purbeck Hills. Cycle through the quaint village of Corfe Castle. Pass under the iconic arch that is part of the Swanage Steam Railway. Then, tackle the undulating New Road.

At the top of New Road, a stunning viewpoint awaits. On a clear day, you can see Poole Harbour to the south, the sandy beaches of Bournemouth, and the Needles on the Isle of Wight to the east.

The route then descends through the charming village of Studland. It is known for its beaches. It then heads towards Ferry Road. Here, you will board the unique Studland Ferry. It takes you back to the Sandbanks Peninsula. As you ride past the mansions of Millionaires' Row, enjoy the views of the stunning waterside. Then, return to Rockets and Rascals. You can relax with a coffee, browse our bike shop or have any bike repairs serviced in our bike workshop.
