New Year News letter

New Year News letter

We have purposely allowed the dust to began to settle on what can be the overwhelming time of year with all the excitement of another lap of the sun, resolutions and those big plans being set. We want you to remember to include us here at Rockets and Rascals, your local award winning independent bicycle emporium and cafe. We are here and want to help you prepare, ride, race or smash your goals this year. We also felt it was time for a quick download to our friends and followers to keep you up-to-date with our plans and the latest happenings here.

Tenth Anniversary. Save the Date

2024 marks ten years since Rockets and Rascals opened its doors to Poole. While we have grown and things have moved on in some aspects during that time, what we strive to keep at our core is the best customer experience, whether with a new bike purchase, in our workshop service or enjoying our locally sourced Badhand Coffee.
So we want to take this opportunity for you to scratch it up in those fresh calendars and diaries. We will be hosting a special birthday bash on the last weekend in June Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th. So pencil that in for now and watch this space with more exciting details to follow in due course.

New Year, New Brands and New Bikes

As this year rolls around, so does the launch of new exciting products. For our keen social media followers, you might have already noticed the trickle of the latest model year 24 on offer here but for everyone else here is a run down of whats new at Rockets and Rascals.

Husqvarna is a new brand to the bicycle industry and for us here at Rockets and one we are stoked to have join the ranks. “Husky” is a name that some may recognise from it’s motorcycles and is well positioned to get its elbows out in a motocross-style in the ever-expanding market of electric bicycles. We already have stock of their Mountain Cross model range, boasting the powerful Shimano EP801 drive system and carbon fibre frame starting at prices from £5499.

Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz has already launched a couple of new and redesigned models in their range. With their new mid-power Heckler SL joining their popular full-power trail E-MTB kicked off. The Heckler SL delivers less power from its Fazua Ride 60 motor than its other e-bike siblings in their lineup, but crucially also weighs significantly less lending itself to a more natural ride characteristic on the trails.

The other exciting launch from the Californian brand is an update to one of our best-selling gravel bikes the Stigmata. The Stigmata now has increased tyre clearance for its 700c wheels and it has adapted progressive geometry for ultra off-road capabilities by being ready to accept a suspension fork if you see the need on your gravel escapades. Other changes include a glovebox to stash snacks and tools for those trailside repairs. The all-new Stigmata is now in store and ready to ride away from £3899.

We have a fresh drop of bikes from our friends at Cervelo to share with you. With their gravel speedster the Aspero, their everyday rider/racer the beautiful Soloist and the Caledonia built to go long, we are sure to have a drop bar bike for your next ride all in-house and raring to roll.

A brand that has already been busy during the off-season. They have given their branding a refresh alongside launching an impressive lineup of full-power and mid-power E-MTBs for this year. We have already taken delivery of the fresh E160 Bosch-powered E-bikes The entry point is their E160S at £5499 and features a SRAM GX AXS wireless drivetrain and the entire E160 range is available in both 29-inch or mixed wheel sizes.

Arguably the jewel in the Whyte crown is their all-new E-Lyte model. Available in three models; the 150 RSX, the 150 Works and the 140 Works. All feature a carbon fibre frame, carbon wheels and SRAM T Type AXS groupset coupled to the latest Bosch Performance SX motor. This electric mountain bike is lighter, and therefore more enjoyable on the trail with a an impressive range thanks to its range extender battery capability. This is a bike we have been excited to take delivery of and you can witness it and see it in all its glory here today.

We have a variety of bikes covering every genre of cycling from Scott. It is a brand that we are proud to have been behind since the day Rockets and Rascals first threw back the doors here in Poole. The latest Foil road and Addict Gravel bikes are proving popular with its unique colourways and fast styling in a range that covers the ground at a serious rate of knots.  We also have some significant discounts across our Scott E-Bikes with various sizes of their utility bike models ready to go. Along the same vein, you might have noticed a January Super Deal on a Medium sized E-Genius 910 carbon E-mountain bike reduced from £5699 to an eye-watering £3599.

Focus on Events

This year we are pleased to announce more of our events that have become a regular for many of a our friends and customers. Our shop rides will start to kick off anytime soon and the first in our diary is the Saturday 10th February gravel ride being lead by our friend Kev from Wessex Gravel. Our Saturday Rockets Road Rides will also continue to be a feature, meeting here for coffee before heading on the classic lap of the harbour. We actively encourage all riders to get involved with either of our no drop road or gravel rides as a great way to open you up to what the local area has to offer as well as meeting like minded riders.

Once the mercury begins to climb our calendar begins to get going. As well as this year’s big birthday bash in late June, we are proud to announce that we will be launching a special event to raise money for the charity Rider Resilience. This will be a fresh welcome addition to this year’s schedule and one that we believe will be truly unique and well worth getting excited about. Watch this space for all of the event details that will drop in due course.

We are just geeting the final details ironed out with our Rockets and Rascals E-bike Demo Day. Our plan is to bring you the latest pedal assist, E-Bikes from all of our in house brands in one place, giving you the chance to see what all the fuss is about if you have yet to experience what they have to offer, or for the more experienced riders out there, it will be a great opportunity for you to try out the latest bikes and technology. So watch this space for the full low down.

Whilst we have and will continue to plan parties, events and rides here at Rockets and Rascals we are continually trying to improve on our service and what we can offer. So with that in mind we would love to give the opportunity to you our community of riders and customers to reach out and to leave us feedback.

Please let feel free to drop us an email at poole@rocketsandrascals.com, call us here at 01202 7708842, leave a message on any of our social media channels or pop in for a coffee and chat to anyone of us on what you would like to see in the shop, the cafe or even feature in our calendar moving forward.

Thanks and all the best for 2024
